Autonomous vehicles need to be able to drive billions of miles without fatal accidents before human lives can be placed into technology’s hands. Currently, no autonomous interactions leads to protecting ourself, keeping safe.
Autonomous car technology is being inspired by its human passenger’s ability to dream itself to safety by creating and recreating all kinds of simulations, which it can then learn from and have more data with which to improve itself. Put more cars together, working as a team, greatly increases the data available to be reconstructed into a virtual environment, which can then intelligently discover innovative perception - action systems over a much greater range of road experience scenarios. This training will then prove valuable in their real-world responses to rare situations or ones that may have never occurred before. The system will be prepared to deal with unexperienced situations though because they have been previously imagined or “dreamed.”
